چکیده

Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has revolutionised the treatment of coronary artery disease, which remains one of the major causes of mortality in developed nations throughout the world. It is used to treat patients with both stable angina and acute coronary syndromes, and is also the treatment of choice in acute STelevation myocardial infarction. PCI is popular with patients when compared with coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), as major surgery can be avoided, a shorter hospitalisation is involved, and return to active lifestyle is earlier. Furthermore, the immediate technical success rate is high, and the procedural mortality and morbidity rate is low.

Letter by Virmani et al regarding article, "Drug-eluting stents in animals and patients: where do we stand today?".

Since the earliest use of coronary stents for treating symptomatic coronary stenosis, maintaining patent arteries after treatment has remained an elusive goal. Although the first bare metal stents opened stenotic arteries, they injured the arterial wall. The buildup of intimal scar tissue caused restenosis, a frustrating problem for prevention or treatment. After a dozen years of research, howe...

نتایج بالینی پس از آنژیوپلاستی عروق کرونر، بروز حوادث بزرگ قلبی-عروقی و عوارض انواع استنت

Background: Cardiovascular diseases alone have become the leading cause of death worldwide. One of the treatment methods cardiovascular disease is angioplasty. This study aimed to investigate the clinical results after coronary artery angioplasty, based on the incidence of major cardiovascular events with emphasis on stent types. Methods: In this retrospective cross-sectional study, the preval...

Association of G22A variant of Adenosine Deaminase gene with coronary in-stent restenosis in coronary artery patients receiving drug-eluting stent

In-stent restenosis (ISR) is regarded as the main problem in the utilization of stents in the treatment of coronary artery atherosclerotic stenosis in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This study investigated the possible role of the G22A variant of the Adenosine Deaminase gene (ADA) in the development of ISR. In this study, 91 patients who underwent PCI were divided into two groups of ...

Drug-eluting stents: new era and new concerns.

At present there is much excitement about drug-eluting stents, which hold promise for the treatment of coronary artery disease. This ingenious therapy involves coating the outside of a standard coronary stent with a thin polymer containing medication that can prevent scarring at the site of coronary intervention. Early trials with sirolimus coated stents showed that they might prevent coronary ...

[Treatment of drug-eluting stent restenosis with another drug-eluting stent: do not fail the second time!].

Drug-eluting stents (DES) have dramatically diminished but not eradicated in-stent restenosis (ISR) and even though they have resulted in single digit rates in simple lesions, it is not unusual to see double figure rates of ISR in more complex lesions and real world studies. Despite this problem little attention has been given to evaluate the pathogenesis of DES restenosis and the optimal treat...

Overview of Intracoronary Brachytherapy for in-Stent Restenosis of a Drug-Eluting Stent

Percutaneous coronary intervention with stenting is considered recently as the most common procedure for the treatment of symptomatic coronary. The article reviewed 41 studies published during 1997-2019 on intracoronary brachytherapy for in-stent restenosis of a drug-eluting stent. Intracoronary radiation therapy was finally confirmed in the setting of in-stent restenosis using as adjunctive th...
